About the Founder of SAS
Stephen Andrew Smith began his career in manufacturing at Webbs of Bloxwich before moving to Stordy Combustion Engineering Ltd. In the late 70s, he worked on the transition from Towns Gas to Natural Gas. Designing 22 projects with Mechim of Belgium, he gained vast experience in managing large Gas and Oil developments. He obtained his BSc in Industrial Engineering and a Post Honours Degree in Engineering Manufacturing from Wolverhampton in 1983.
Following this, he worked with multi-utilities in London and was involved in the Gas & Water Installations for the Channel Tunnel in Dover. He also oversaw the installation of Gas Mains at Bristol University and Water & Gas at Broad Green Hospital. In the 1980s, he was responsible for installing the internal plumbing in the first 3 Wetherspoons pubs.
About SAS Associates & SAS Metering
In 2004, SAS Associates was established to provide Water & Gas Onsite Services for distribution centres. We specialised in gas outlet pipework, post the gas meter, and ensured the delivery of gas to appliances with maximum pressure. In 2006, we were a subcontractor for a utilities company specialising in Gas & Gas Connections.
By 2010, we incorporated into SAS Utility Services, trading as SAS Associates, and became GIRS accredited, to carry out LP, MP, & IP Gas Installations. In 2011, we became WIRS accredited, enabling our management staff to fulfil new Water Connections. By 2013, we were MAM registered, trading as SAS Metering, to install, commission and maintain gas meters and modules. Lastly, we became NERS accredited to offer Multi Utility Connections and provide a one-stop shop.
