Our Commercial Gas Connection Process
From small 32mm Domestic Services up to large 355mm Gas Mains, we are fully qualified to install LP (Low Pressure), Medium Pressure (MP), and Intermediate (IP) systems alike. Let’s delve into more detail about our tried-and-tested approach and what to expect from our team of gas engineers:
1. Site Inspection & Risk Assessment
Before we begin with your Commercial Gas Connections, we will visit your site to assess the best route for your gas mains. This includes inspecting for potential risks, as well as where to provide access for ease of maintenance in the future. All of this will be carefully considered and planned before we proceed with the installation to ensure the utmost safety, efficiency, and longevity of your gas supply.

2. Choosing the Right Pipe Size & Materials
Following your site visit, our trusted designers will calculate your gas flow requirements. Based on these calculations, we can work out the appropriate pipe size to meet your gas supply needs and ensure the right capacity. Rest assured, we always use high-quality pipes and fittings, including corrosion-resistant materials if required for corrosive environments, such as industrial, urban, or coastal settings.
3. Planning Approval
Once we have planned the best course of action and written up all of our paperwork, we will apply for the necessary permits and documentation from local authorities for their approval, before we proceed. This not only ensures your Commercial Gas Connections comply with the relevant regulations, but also remain safe and environmentally sound.

4. Commercial Gas Installation & Connections
After we have received approval from your local authorities, your Commercial Gas Connections are good to go! First, this involves digging a trench to the appropriate width and depth, all while following the necessary regulations.
Once we have safely excavated a trench and the groundwork is complete, we can start the important bit: connecting your gas pipes. Depending on the type of material we’re using for your pipes, whether that’s polyethylene (PE), steel, or copper, we will expertly install your gas pipes through welding, threading, or any other connection method.
5. Pressure Testing & Gas Safety
Throughout your Commercial Gas Installation and Connections, we constantly monitor gas levels and use gas detection equipment to test for potential leaks, as well as check the pipes for damage or defects.
After installation, before we activate your gas mains, we test the pressure to make sure the pipes can handle the required conditions. Once we confirm your pipes are safe, we can switch on the mains supply, and you’ll have gas before you know it!

6. Documentation
In order to keep your records up to date for safety and maintenance purposes, we will provide you with the appropriate documentation, including diagrams of your gas mains layout for future reference.
Gas Metering Services
Our business partnership doesn’t stop with Commercial Gas Connections. Trading as SAS Metering, we also offer Metering Services as a Meter Assessment Management Operator, following the Approved Meter Installer Code of Practice. This means that not only can we install large-scale, complex gas modules and meters in multiple housing estates, which are then adopted by Gas Transporters, but we can also exchange and remove your meters, provide ongoing maintenance, and even callout services for urgent requirements.
